How much can simplicity hold? A study in creating a seating object with as little material as possible while still able to hold an average person’s weight.

To minimize surplus material I designed and built a three-legged light-weight construction. The chair consists of round sticks as longitudinal stability behaves more uniformly with sticks than with rectangular lists. The stick chair is built on construction principles, such as creating triangles to prevent parallel offsets. The triangle-shaped joints underneath the seating area are facing in two different directions to avoid possible torsion. The individual joints consist of the sticks being custom angled to grab around the other stick and one dowel holding it in place.
