ABOUT ME.
This is GrundForm by Pia Grundmann — showcasing bold and contemporary projects that tickle the mind.
I began my journey with a BA in Design from The Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen. My education spans a broad spectrum — from furniture and spatial to material design — and has equipped me with a solid foundation in the theory of aesthetics and design tools such as Adobe photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Rhinoceros 8 and Enscape.
After an internship at the exhibition design studio Torden & Lynild, I gained practical experience with telling stories through immersive spatial design. At T&L I designed a space for the Norwegian Museum Stiklestad from sketch to final production within 1.5 weeks — a challenging but rewarding learning experience. Furthermore I contributed with technical drawings for production.

In 2025 I founded GrundForm to start creating custom projects in spatial- and interior design.

The Royal Danish Academy for Architecture, Design and Conservation
At the Royal Danish Academy, I developed a strong foundation in core design principles, including aesthetics theory, statics and construction, color theory, and specialized topics within spatial, furniture, and material design. Throughout the programme, I also gained advanced proficiency in key design software, such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator, as well as 3D modeling tools like Rhino and rendering programs including Enscape.

Services
Research
I base all of my work on profound research and value an analytical approach to define the target group and specific needs for a project. This research is then a solid foundation for my conceptualization. In my research phase I collect data, identify the needs, and organize my knowledge with a visual output.
Concept
In the concept phase I use different tools and methods to generate ideas — often focusing on the quantity of the output to start with and then narrowing down the concepts to three. I propose the concepts to my clients and in conversation with we agree on one which leads to designing the outcome.
Design
In this phase I start using my sketches from the concept phase and start drawing or modelling out different protoypes, going through multiple iteration processes. Here I frequently have touchdowns with the client to ensure that the outcome will be in line with their needs and wishes.
Guidance in production
I offer to be the contact person during the production process, guiding the producers in the right direction and staying in a constant feedback loop to ensure the best possible outcome.
