In this project, I explored the creation of biodegradable materials using components such as coffee grounds, tea, flower petals, and algae.
One of the resulting materials — an algae-based bioplastic — became the foundation for a 1:10 scale seating object, designed specifically for an exhibition space at the Willumsen Museum just outside Copenhagen. The piece is placed in direct dialogue with the painting "Den grønne pige" (The Green Girl), with the form of the seating object mirroring the figure depicted. The object mirrors the shape of the woman in the painting, allowing visitors to sit, lean, or lie alongside her — transforming the 2D portrait into a tangible, 3D experience. The project invites the audience to reflect on materiality, sustainability, and the relationship between body, art, and space.
